THE MURRURUNDI RAILWAY COLLISION.

SYDNEY, May 2. The stationmaster at Murrurundi gave evidence at the enquiry in connection with the railway accident at Murrurundi on April, t l7th, that he had no confidence in the signs 1, and vjps very careful in handling it. It had failed many times previously to act perfectly. The district superintendent deposed that he examined the signal after the accident and found that through faulty manipulation, the arm would not go back to "danger." The Railway Department had hundreds of similar signals, and was quite satisfied with their working. SCATTERED PEARLING FLEET. PERTH, May 2. About one hundred and fifty pearling vessels, scattered by the recent great storm, have returned to Broome, more or less damaged. Many of the bodies of the drowned were eaten by';sharks.
