THE TARIFF. FEDERAL GOVERNMENT DEFEATED. Recieved April 30, 10.15 a.m. MELBOURNE, April 30. The Federal Government sustained three reverses last night over the Senate's tariff recommendations.
A BARQUE WRECKED.
Recieved April .30, 12.52 a.m. SYDNEY, April 30. Advices from Noumea state that the Norwegian barque Bjaruc was wrecked on Surprise Island. The crew, numbering' thirteen, have been brought to Noumea.
