Mr J. C. JfcSoddi rig ton reports that the rainfall registered at Upper Plain for the 24 hours up to 9 a.m. on Tuesday was 24 points. At 9 a.m., yesterday, Captain Edwin issued the following forecast for the subsequent 24 hours:— Wind. Westerly, moderate to strong at all places northward of Napier and New Plymouth; strong to gale after from 8 to 16 hours elsewhere. Barometer. —Rise slowly northward of Napier and New Plymouth; for everywhere else. Rain is probable south of East Cape, Tauno and New Plymouth. Warning signals for northerly gale is exhibiited at Capes Campbell, Foulwind, Farewell Spit, and Nuggets. and for westerly gale at most places after sunrise.
