BY TELEGKAPH—FRESB ASSOCIATION. THE BLACKBALL STRIKE. GREYMOUTH. April 23. Messrs Webb and Pritchard, delegates from the Blackball strikers, leave to-night by the Mapourika en route for Christchurch, to confer with the directors of the Blackball Company next week. A STARTLING EXPERIENCE. PALMERSTON N., April 23. While having afternoon tea at the Grand Hotel, this afternoon, three ladies were startled by a revolver bullet crashing through the window at which they were sitting, and after making an impression on the dome leading from the lounge, it dropped spent close to where they were seated. Had the bullet penetrated the pane about eighteen inches lower, it must have struck one of the ladies. The matter has been placed in the hands of the police.
A STEAMER ASHORE
WESTPORT, April 23. The Union Steam Ship Company's steamer Taviuni, from Nelson, ran ashore on the South Spit at Westport, about 8.30 o'clock to-night. A tug and the s.s. Komata are going out presently to render assistance. Tne night id fine, and the chances of refloating the steamer appear favourable.
