MOHMAND RAIDS.
CAUSE OP THE TROUBLE. Received April 23, 8 a.m. CALCUTTA, April 22. During the Zakka Khels expedition the mullahs induced the Mohmands to raise a force to assist the Zakka Khels force. They'arrived too late, but being highly excited began raiding the Peshawar border. The Ameer is likely to recall the tribesmen whom his officials allowed to cross the Kabul River to join the Mnhmands.
FANATICAL PREACHERS ACTIVE.
Received April 23, 11.54 p.m. LONDON, April 23.,
The Simla correspondent of "The Times" reports that contingents from Afghanistan and Bajour steadily added to the tribal gathering on the Mohmand frontier. The organised system in connection with ttfe supply of food and ammunition indicate that the arrangements in the background are different to the usual crude tribal system. Fanatical preachers are active across the Afghan border. The Ameer's officials are not making the slightest effort to check the mullahs. Genera] Willcocks remains strictly on the defensive.
