The Federal House expressed sympathy -.with the sufferers in the disaster.
The State Commissioner says that the staticmmaster at.Sunshine gave "line clear" to both Deerpark and Sydenham, on the JBalarat andßendigo lines respectively. This should not have been done while another train was in the section, although it does uot exonerate the drivers for disregarding the more important semaphore signals, which were against the Bendigo train.
The list of injured totals one hundred and ninety-utie. Six ofScials have been relieved of duty, pending an enquiry.
