City Handicap.—Kapnaud 1, Waipuna 2, King's Cross 3. Won by a length. Time, 2min 39sec. A hostile demonstration was made against Poseidon after ths Cumberland Stakes win.

Reid, of Ellerslie, purchased half a dozen youngsters, of whom four were Cambadello-bred fillies by St. Alwyn, and one by Glaucus; as well as a Havilah-bred halfbrother to Caravel. A New Zealand-bred colt by Soult —Crecy, was purchased for 180 guineas by Mr Johnson, of New Zealand.
