At Dannevirke, on Monday, Miss Ada Retter, daughter of Mr J. Retter, of Tjpapakuku, was' married toMr.R. V. G. Harris, of Napier. The. death occurred at Dannevirke on Monday of Mrs W. Leach. The de.ceased, who \vas» 72 years of age, resided at one time at Greytown and Eketahuna. Miss McKenzie, postmistress at Tinui,. has received notice that she is to he transferred to Tokomaru and will leave at the end of the month for that place. The residents of the district intend to entertain Miss McKenzie at a farewell social on Acil 29ch. 7. At St. Lawrence Church, Aramoho, on Easter Monday, Mr J. G. Miller, curator of the Masterton fishponds, was married to Miss E. Gichard, eldest daughter of Mr Wm. Gichard, of Aramoho. The bride was attended by her two sisters, Misses E, and B. Gichard, as bridesmaids. Mr A.. Glen,, of Masterton, was best man, and Mr Gichard groomsman. The ceremony was performed by the. Rev. H. Watson. Mr and Mrs Miller returned to their future home in Masterton yesterday. Mr W, Pawson, who has been transferred from the Department of the Masterton Railway Station to the Stores Department,, Wellington, was the recipient of a handsome silver - mounted walking stick from the members of the Masterton South Brass Band. The presentation was made at the residence of Mr F. T. Harding, Kuripuni, on Monday night, where a farewell supper was held and an* enjoyable evening spent. Yesterday Mr Pawson was also presented with a purse of sovereigns from the station staff and trades people of Masterton, Mr F. Hill, stationmaster, making the presentation.
