EASTER IN WELLINGTON.
WELLINGTON, April 19. Easter Saturday in Wellington was a dismal wet day, with a fairly strong southerly blowing. Nearly all outdoor sports were postponed or abandoned, though the pony racts were held at Miramar. The Volunteers, conducting manoeuvres between Wellington and Porirua, had an unpleasantly damp experience. The forts on the harbour front, which are participating in the manoeuvres were heard firing at intervals. To-day the weather has been quite fine, and appears likely to be favourable for the various holiday functions to-morrow.
