The name of Mr J. Cullen, of Villa 'Street, is mentioned among the probable candidates offering for a seat on the Trust Linda Trust on the retiring by effluxtion of time of three of the present members next month. A Press Assciaticn telegram fiom Christchurdi states that Mr Edward Djbson, fomrerly Canterbury Provincial Engineer, died on Sunday morning, aged 91. Ati:«ngst the works with which Mr Dobaon's name is connected is the survey of the Can-terbury-West Coast road via Otira gorge. Mr Dobson was the author of several works on engineering a.id building, and took a keen interest in educational matters. Mr Do;glas Dibson, lata of Masterton, was a nephew of the deceased. The Rev. A. M. Johnson, who leaves St. Matthew's Parish this week to take tiji the position of Vicar of St. Mark's, Wellington, was presented by the choir of St. Matthew's, last evening, with a very handsome silver salver. Mr W. A. Fendall marie the presentation, and in bidding the minister farewell on behalf of the choir, said that not only were the choir losing a good ymember, but alno a firm friend, the rov. gentleman having taken a very keen interest in its welfare, and assisted materially in its advancement. Master A. Hadleigh also presented the Rev. Johnson with a handsomer ■■ barometer, suitably inscribed, as a token of regard from the choristers. Both presentations! ware suitably : acknowledged.
