The Irish and Germans in the United States are strenuously urging senators to defeat the Arbitration Treaty, on the ground that it is the first step towards an Anglo-American alliance. The treaty, which was signed at Washington, last week, provided for the appointment of joint commissions to adjudicate on minor claims made by the respective Governments or their citizens.
