FIRE AT GORE.
GORE, April 15. A fire destroyed three busines3 places in Bridge Street opposite the scene of the recent fire. The fire started in the back of Thomas' bootmaker's ahop, which had been occupied as a dwelling. The flames spread to Quilter's fruit and confectionery shop, which was destroyed, but a cordial factory in the rear was saved. B. Downes' blacksmith and implement premises were next destroyed. The latter contained a considerable amount of machinery, and was owned by J. Lowden, senr. The insuran'-es j amount to £I,OOO. The loss over that i is estimated at £6OO. |
