Mr Dennis Sullivan, of Carterton, who is at present paying a visit to relatives in the South Island is reported to be seriously ill and little hope is entertained for his recovery. Mr Herdman is now definitely announced as a candidate in the Opposition interest for the Wellington North seat at the general election. It is probable that Labour candidates will be selected for all the Wellington City and some of the suburban seats at the general election. Mr and Mrs E. E. Chamberlain, of Masterton, and their daughter? will leave to-day en route for Sydney, whence they journey by the Mongolia for the Old Country. After thirty-four years' native service as a member of the Bokitika Fire Brigade, Captain Michel, has tendered his resignation. Twentyfive years of the time he» has served, as captain.
