ATTEMPT TO "BEAR" THE PRICE. Received April 14, 10.9 a.m. HOBART, April 14. Efforts to "bear" the price of Australian hops all round is resented by local growers, who intend to ask the Commonwealth Government to increase the import duty by a shilling per pound. FEDERAL DEFENCE. Received April 14, 10.9 a.m. MELBOURNE, April 14. The erection of the Federal small arms factory at Lithgow will be commenced at once. The estimated cost is £70,000.
