MASTERTON A. AND P. ASSOCIATION.
GENERAL COMMITTEE MEETING. The General Committee of the Masterton A. and P. Association met on Saturday afternoon. Present — Messrs J. D. Cruickshank (chair- ; man), D. McGregor, junr., W. H. Buick, E. E. Chamberlain, 0. C. Cooper, R. J. Dagg, C. E. Daniell, E. Harper, T. P. Lett, Jos. Morris, A. J. Percy, J. P. Perry, Wm. Perrv, A. G. Pilmer, Bland Rayner, G. Shaw, J. Strang, and G. C. Summerell. Messrs Gawith and Logan wrote asking the Association to consent to the syndicate selling Solway granting a water easement to Mrs McMaster in connection with a water ram in the bush adjoining the homestead.—The President was authorised to grant the request. Mr D. O'Rourke, of Auckland, who judged the light horses at the Shaw, wrote offering a prize of two guineas for the best mare or gelding over fifteen hands. —The offer was accepted with thanks. Mr E. G. Frost, manager of the Masterton branch of Hallenstein Bros., wrote stating that his firm intended to donate a one guinea trophy annually to the Show.—lt was decided to reply thanking the firm for its generous offer. Mr P. A. McHardy, of Palmerston North, returned, with thanks, his cheque for jvdge's expenses, and asked the Society to allot it as a prize for a yearling Shorthorn bull at next Show. —The secretary was instructed tu write accepting, with thanks, Mr McHardy's offer. The resignations of Messrs J. Stuckey (England) and Frederick Moore (Wanganui) were accepted with regret, and it was decided to place a record of appreciation of their services to the Association on the minutes. Several uther resignations were received. Leave of absence was'granted to Mr E. E. Chamberlain for the remainder of his term, on account of his leaving for England. Mr 0. C. Cooper, on behalf of the syndicate, offered the Association the avenue leading to the new Showgrounds site, but asked that a right-of-way over the avenue be granted in connection with Solway homestead. The Chairman moved that the offer be accepted with thanks.— Carried. A committee, consisting of the Chairman and Messrs D. McGregor and G. C. Summerell, were authorised to carry out the resolutions passed at the recent general meeting of members with reference to the purchase of the Solway grou..ds. The Committee was given power to acquire a strip of land adjoining the avenue to make the same a chain and a half in width. The tender of Mr T. P. Lett, at £35 103 per year, was accepted for grazing rights on the old Showgrounds. FINANCE COMMITTEE. The Finance Committee met in the morning. Present—Messrs G. C. Summerell (in the chair), J. d] OrnHfshank, D. McGzvgor and o.' C. Cooper. Tne treasuror reported a debit balance at bank of £365 12s 64. Mr E. J. Wilson, Johnsonville, asked for the payment of «ao iOa, value of a ewe lost at the Show. The Committee decided that it could rot recognise any liability in face of the rules, and considered it would not be desirable to pay compensation, apart fom the rules. The sum of £2O 10s was received from Messrs Gawith and Logan, solicitors, amounts of arrears of subscription collected. Accounts, amounting to £ll9 2s sd, were passed for payment.
