SPREAD OF THE BOYCOTT. I Received April 9, 8.32 a.m. < HONG KONG, April 8. ] The Chines* Merchants Guild at ( Hong Kong has telegraphed to i's y agents in Nagasaki, Kobe and Yoko- ' hama, directing them not to place * ordtra for Japanese goods. ' Recently 50,000 Chinese took part t in a demonstration in Canton, advo- „ eating a boycjtt of Japanese goods. Chinese merchants in Sydney have also decided to boycott Japanese . goods. One of. the reasons for the bocyott is the releasing of the Japan- * ese steamer Tatsu Maru, which was \ recently seized by Chinese • authorities on the ground that it was supposed to be carrying arms for rebels, and in connection with which j China ha 3 hal to apologise.
