At 9 a.m. yesterday, Captain Edwin issued the following forecast for the subsequent 24 hours: — Wind. —Southerly gale, but moderating on east coast between Castlepoint and East Cape; moderate to strong everywhere else. Barometer. —Rise everywhere. Rain is probable between East Cape, Taupo and Manukau Heads, and colder weather in all other parts of the country. Warning signal for southerly gale is exhibited at East Cape. Mr J. C. Boddington reports that the rainfall registered at Upper Plain for the twenty-four hours, up to 9 a.m. on Wednesday, was 11 points.
