GENERAL COMMITTEE.
The following members were present at the last matting of the present General Committee of the Wairarapa P. and A. Society, held yesterday morning:—Messrs H. McPhee (chairman), G. VV. Duller, A. D. McMaster, J. (J. Oates, W. B. Allen, A. Anderson, W. E. Bidwill. W. C. Buchanan, H. R. Bunny, H. A. Bunny, C. Campbell, A. Clark, R. Cooper, F. J. Dillon, A. Donald, E. Eagle, junr., G. Gaskin, R. G. Kemble, J. M. Lightfoot, A. Matthews, T. V. Moore, C. Morgan, H. Monson, J. G. McDonald, W. J. Nix, W. Perry, C. Reid, D. Reid, A. J. Reynolds, G. Sievers, R. Smith, J. Snell, J. Standen, J. Strang, H. H. Wolters.
A discussion cinsued as to the advisability of the meeting fixing the date for the next Show.
Mr Anderson moved, and Mr A. Donald seconded, that 25th and 26th November be the dates for the Show. Mr Buchanan moved, and Mr Lightfoot seconded, an amendment that 28th and 29th October be the date 3. Both amendment and motion were lost, and the question was eventually left to the annual meeting to decide. The Mastdi-ton A. and P. Association wrote notifying that the profits of the Ram Fair were about £134, the proportion due to the Society being one-third of this amount. The question of the amount of the out of pocket expenses paid to the delegates to the Feir was discussed briefly, the general opinion being that the £1 Is allowance was not sufficient to cover the expanses of such delegates. Mr Perry moved that it be a recommendation from the Committee that the remuneration be increased to a guinea a 'day, the amount to be paid out of the general fund. This was carried unanimously. The resignation of Mr W. Knapp was accepted. The following new members were elected: —Messrs T. A. Wallis, D. B. Wallis, N. R. Wallis, E. J. B. Wallis, E. Mason, M. Benge, H. Maunsell, P. Ashton, H. E. Jackson, Russell, Quin Kee, W. H. Baillie, A. M. Hooker, F. Barry, J. Gooman, D. G. Cruickshank, R. Buckeridge, junr., A. Seeley, A. King, E. B. Eagle, W. A. Kitchen, W. H. Smith, H. Wakelin, T. Barker, junr., R. Cooper, W. Emery, H. McPortland, J. Reid, P. Jameson, D. Reid, H. R. Bunny, H. Merewood, S. W. Moore, W. Wadham, L. Dwan, E. James, J. Russell, and Miss E. Booth. The secretary presented an unaudited annual balance-sheet to March 31st. The total receipts were set down at £1,520 2s 9d; expenditure, £1,794 13s Id, leaving a debit balance of £273 17s 3d. The chief items in the receipts were subscriptions, £483; donations, £419 2s 6d; entry fees, £256; privileges, gates, etc.,'£23l 14s lid; an 4 in the expenditure—Prizes, £538 9s 6d; permanent improvements, £303 12s 2d; management, £221 0s 4d; general Show expenses, £153 18s 4d; advertising and printing, £lO6 0s lOd; general and sundries, including judges (£39 lis), luncheon (£56), £293 3s 9d. The Association commenced the year with a debit balance of £233 19s 2d. The liabilities of the Association were £2O 13s; against which there are outstanding subscriptions, donations and fees, totalling £lO7 16s.
