METEOROLOGICAL.
Mr J. C. Boddington reports that the rainfall registered at Upper Plain for the 24 hours up to 9 a.m. on Tuesday was 28 points.
At 9 a.m. yesterday Captain Edwin issued the following forecast for the subsequent twenty-four hours: — Wind.—South-easterly gale on the East Coast between Napier and East Cape; strong to gale from same direction at all other places northward of Napier, Taupo, and Kawhia, hut moderate southerly everywhere else. Barometer —Rise at all places north of Napier and Wanganui; little movement thence southward. Rain is probable northward of Napier and Manukau Heads. There are indications for frost in most parts of the South Island, also in the North Island at inland places south of Taihape, Woodville and Stratford, and for colder weather everywhere else. Warning signal for south-easterly gale is exhibited at Tiritiff, East Cape, and Cape Campbell.
