Stocks on hand are l'ght, and prospects for the sale of New Zealand lamb this season is .good. Canterbury lamb is quoted at <&gd, and other than Canterbury at SgdThere ia a better demand for beef, jhiudquirtera being quoted at 3|}d, and forequarters at 21d. The butter market is firm, with improved demand, and supplies will be moderate. The following are cury. rent quotations—Choicest New Zcaland, Ills; Danish, Ills; Australian, 107s ;• Siberian, 107 a; Argentine, 108s. -/] The cheese jmarket is quiet, but '-steady, and there is no change in prices. The hemp market is steady, with an improved demand, but dependent -on Manila reports. The following are the current quotations Good fair grade, on the spot, £25 10s; fair gjrade, on the spot, £23 10s; fair current Manila, £24 10s; AprilJune shipments, good fair grade, ■£2sj fair grade, £23 10s; fair current Manila, £2-1 10s. Tnu sto:k of New Zealand hemp held in London •amounts to 384 tons. The cocksfoot market is firm, but there is less demand at 80s for bright clean New Zealand seed, weighing 171bs per bushel. In o M dcr to push the sales of cocksfoot, lower prices would have to be accepted. ' The hop market ia very dull, and is becoming more depressed on account of the large shipments which have arrived. The current quotations are: —Beat quality English, 60j; Amercan, 40a. The following are the shipments from River Plate during March: Mutton: London, 38,0t>6; Liverpool, 81,076; Hull, 8,814; Newcastle, 8,225; Cardiff, 1,250; Plymouth, 948. Lamb: London, 2,481; Liverpool, 10,997; Hull, 1,077; Newcastle, 1,000; Cardiff, nil; Plymouth, 100. Butter: Liverpool and Southampton, 8,796cwt. Received April 6, 8.10 a.m. i LONDON, April 5.
