In the second grade match, Melbourne against North Melbourne, the former lost one wicket for 412 — Johnson, not out, 184; Jennings, not out, 178. The record partnership in firstclass matches for the second wicket in England is 398, by Shrewsbury and William Gunn, for Notts v. Sussex, in May, 1890. The second for any wickefc in first-class cricket is 554, by Brown and Tunnicliffe, Yorkshire v. Derbyshire, August, 1898. The longest partnership in any match is] 623 for the second wicket for Cantain Oates and Private Fitzgerald" for Ist Royal Munster Fusiliers v. Army Service Corps at the Curragh, June, 1895. Trumper and Gee made 423 for fifrat wicket, playing for Paddington against Redfern in January, 1093, this being a record for Australia in grade crickSt. MASTERTON A V. CARLTON A.
