WEST'S PICTURES AND THE BRESCIANS.

STAMPEDE OF CAB HORSES

West's Pictures and Brescians Company will appear in the Town Hall this evening. A northern contemy6l'ary says of the company:— "The company has just completed a, second tour in Tasmania, where they re-established themselves ss th§ popular favour 1 tea with all lovers of art and music. Their beautiful vocalisation, their -delightful harmony, and their cultured orchestration has won them a high reputation in the artistic sphere, and so long as they maintain this standard of perfection there is no fear of their forfeiting any portion of their claim to that distinction. The Brescians, both vocally and instrumentally, are an artistic combination rarely heard in this part." The "Canterbury Times" states the pictures are unnieasurably superior to anything previously exhibited in the domi.-.ion; the coloured effects are really gorgeous and fascinating, the comic pictures are irresistibly funny and keep the audience convulsed with laughter. The box plan is open at Miss A. E. Rive's stationer.

Miss Martha Jones, of New Plymouth, had ribs on both sides broken, one penetrating the lung. Her condition is serious. Mrs Reid, however, will recover. Her teeth were driven through her lower lip by a blow of some sort, and she is much bruised. The wound in the lip was successfully sewn up. Mr and Miss Gordon Reid were in one of the cabs, but as it was bolting near the railway, where an engine was approaching, they jumped out.
