PERSONAL.

Mr R. Buick, of Masterton, is on a deer-stalking' expedition in the Lower Valley. Miss Feast, relieving teacher at the Kaiparoro school, has commenced her duties. Mr Diddame, of who 1 has been on an extended holiday to Auckland and Rotorua, has returned home. Superintendent Hugo, of the Wellington Fire Brigade, has been appointed by Cabinet as Inspector of Fire Brigades. Mrs Milne, the newly-appointed teacher at the Tablelands school, (Maryborough) has commenced har duties. The death has occurred, at Wellington, of Mr G. B. Blake, who was for a number of years engineer to the I'ahiatua County Council. Miss Esaon, who has for some confiderable time been teacher at the Kaiparoro school, and who is leaving the district, has been presented by the girls of the school with a handsome rug, and by the boys with a sil-ver-mounted oak biscuit barrel. A Press Association telegram states that Mr Andrew Collins, a member of the Wellington Conciliation Board, states that he lias definitely decided to contest the Palmei's'tnn North soat at the general election.

At Greytown, on Tuesday evening, the Rev. J. Brown, of the Presbyterian Church, who is leaving shortly to take charge of the Flemington (South Island) Church, was presented with a purse uf sovereigns by the members of the congregation.

Mr F. Unsworth, head clerk at the Masterton railway station, who is leaving to-day to take up the position of stationmaster at Makotuku, was presented, last evening, by the stationmaster (Mr C. F. Hill), on behalf of <he station staff, with a handsome set of pipes and a valuable tobacco pouch.
