FATAL TRAM ACCIDENT.

BY TELEGRAPH - PIIESS ASSOCIATION. CHRISTCHURCH, March 31. Mr Sidney Cadle, a well-known stock auctioneer in the employ of Messrs Dalgety and Co., met with a shocking accident to-night. He was crossing the tram rails in Cathedral Square, when he slipped and the Opawa steam tram which was then coming in struck him, the engine passing over him. When the tram stopped he was found lying face downwards between the engine and trailer. The latter was uncoupled, and it «vas then tound that Cadle had received terrible injuries, both legs being completely severe'! below the knee. He was quite unconscious at the time, and was taken to the Hospital, where he died at about 11 o'clock. -1 j
