PERSONAL.
Mr A. McLeod, of Opaki, intends leaving on a tour of the world early in May next. Mr J. J. Mead has been appointed choirmaster at St. Mark's Church, Carterton, vice the Rev. R. Young resigned. Mr D. Dobson, late Engineer of the Borough of Masterton, left Masterton yesterday for Westport, to take up the position of Engineer to that borough. Miss Smith, who during the past five years, has been teacher at the Nireaha school, has forwarded her resignation to the Wellington Education Board. Mr Reg. H. Copeland, advance representative of "West's Pictures," arrived ip Masterton, last evening, to make arrangements for their appearance in Masterton on the fith, 7th and Bth inst. At the meeting of the Fire Brigade, last evening, Branchman Holmes, who was recently married, was presented with a handsome marble clock by the members as a mark of esteem.
At Carterton, on Saturday evening, Mr E. B. Du Lacey, of the Carterton railway staff, who has been transferred to Wellington, was presented with a travelling bag and umbrella by his fellow employees as a mark of esteem.
At a dinner held at Waipawaon Monday night to celebrate the division of tho County, the past and present councillors presented the Chairman of the Waipawa County Council, Mr A. E. Jull, with a gold watch in "recognition of hid services, and Mrs Jull with a silver cake basket. The clerical staff presented Mr Jull with . a gold sovereign case.
