THE Wairarapa Age MORNING DAILY. TUESDAY, MARCH 31, 1908. GOOD LUCK TO AUCKLAND!
Auckland, which is always complaining that aome other city receives more favoured treatment than she does, and is ever fretting over imagined grievances of a political or commercial character, will have something more congenial to think/ about for some time to come. Indeed, she will probably be puffed up with pardonable pride. The United States fleet of over thirty war vessels is to pay a visit to Waitemata harbour on its journey to Australia, and the Aucklanders will have' the opportunity of being t|ie first to welcorre to Australasian' waters some twenty thousand officers and men of the navy of Unde Sam. The occasion will be one which will dwarf that of the visit of the Duke of York,' and we may be sure our northern friend* will spare neither trouble nor expense in the hospitable reception of their guests. The State will, doubtless, also expend a large sum upon the reception of the American visitors, so that they may go away not only impressed with the hospitality, but the beauty of the northern city and its environments, and the opulence of the dominion. There is sure to be an enormous rush of people from all parts of New Zealand to Auckland upon the approach of the fleet; and, for a brief space, the lovely harbour of the Waitemata will present a scene such asttyjver entered into the Aucklanders to will remain a memory down to future heartily congratulate colonists in the north fortune securing can Navy a visit of its.magnil|H^^H|H^|
