WELLINGTON HIDE AND SKIN SALE.
Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report as follows :—We held our usual sale of wool, skins, hides and tallow on Friday afternoon. We offered a good catalogue of wool, and prices were easier in sympathy with London market. Skins were also slightly in buyers' favour. We did not offer any ' prime lines of hides. We quote as followsW 00l Merino, 6d to 6|d per lb; crossbred, 3|d to 5Jd; lambs, 3£d to 4£d; pieces, SJd; bellies, 2d*, locks. l£d. Sheepskins—Crossbred, 4-fcd; lambs, 3£d to 4|d; broken and inferior, 2d to 2£d; crossbred, damp, Is 7d each. Hides—Ox, to 4Jd per lb; cow, 4d to 4Jd par lb; calf, 4sd to 5Jd; yearlings, 3sd to 3Jd. Tallow —None in casks offered; in tins, 21s 6d to 21s 9d per cwt; The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., report as under: —We submitted a fair-sized catalogue of wool, skin 9, hides, and a small lot of tallow. Since our last sale there has been a heavy drop in London prices of wool and akiaa, and this was, of course, reflected in the local sale to-day, but bidding was brisk at the lower range of values, and everything was cleared. We quote—Wool—Coarse crossbred inferior, 3fd to 4d; lambs, medium, 5d to 6d; pieces, Id to 2Jd. Sheepskins —Coarse and medium crossbred, 3id to 4sd; dead and damaged, 2d to 3£d; broken and seedy, Id to l£d; dry pelts, sound, 2sd to 3Jd; dry pelts, damaged, id to 2d; green pelts, Is 5d to 2s 4d; green lambs, Is to 2s 3d. Hides —In fair demand at a slight decline on last sale rates. We sold —Light ox, 4d to 4|d; cow, 3|d % to 4d; calf, sound, 4£d to 4§d; calf, damaged, $d to 4d. Tallow —In shipping condition to 523s 6d per cwt. Messrs Levin and Company, Ltd., report as follows: —We offered a small quantity of wool in bales and bags, a fair catalogue of skins, 500 hides and a quantity of tallow and horsehair. Wool: Market weak and depressed, and extremely low prices ruling. We quote: —Medium ci-ossbred 4£d to sd, inferior 3d to 4d, lambS wool 4d to sd, pieces 2d to 3d, locks Id to 2d. Skins: Market weak. We quote:—Fine crossbreds 5d to 5Jd, dead skins 3d to 3|d, mudium crossbreds 3£d to 4£d, dead hoggets 2£d to 3§d, dry pelts 2d to 3Jd, lamb skins 4d to 4fd, green pelts 2s to 1 2s Bd, green lambs (woolly) 2s to 2s Bd, green lamb pelts Is to Is 7d. Tallow : Quiet, parcels in shipping order £22 ss, tins £ls to £l9, rough fat £l3 to £l4. Horsehair: Is to Is 3d per lb. Horns: 5s to J7s fid per 100. CowtailS: Is Bd' per dozen. Hides: Market somewhat easier, but good condition hide's still sell at' very satisfactory figures. We quoteOx hides s|d to s|d, ox hides (medium) s|d to sfd, ox hides (light) 4d to 4£d,
cow hides 3|d to 4£d, cut and slippy hides 2d to 3Jd, stag hides 2|d to 3£d, ball hide?) 2d to 3£d, calf (best) 4d to 4&d, calf (cut and slippy) 2d to 3d.
