STOCK MARKET.
Messrs Abraham and Williams, ■Ltd., report on their Eketahuna sale held yesterday as follows:—Owing to the inclemennt weather prevailing in the district for the last few, days Btock came forward considerably short of advertised numbers. However, what was yarded met with a spirited sale, with an upward tendancy; prices realised throughout being in favour of vendors, a very satisfactory sale resulting. We passed a line of 320 wethers at auction, which were subsequently sold. With this exception the whole of the sheep were disposed of under the hammer. The number of cattle yarded was limited and difficult to quit. Prices realised were as follow: Sheep: Two-tooth wethers lis 9d to 12s 6d, Down wethers lis Id, good sound-mouth breeding ewes 9s Id to 9s 3d, aged ewes 6s 3d to 7s Id, lowconditioned ewes 4s to 4s 9d, shorn lambs 6s sd, aged Lincoln rams ljgn to 2jgn. Cattle: Store bullocks in low condition £3 ss. : Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report on their Eketahuna sale held yesterday as follows:-The advertised number of sheep did not come forward owing to settlers not being able to dip. Still we had a large yarding of both sheep and cattle. Bidding good for all sorts that showed any quality. We quote:—Four and.s- - breeding ewes to 10s 6d, cull ewes 23 9d to 4s 6d, 2 and 4-tooth wethers to lis lid, shorn lambs to 7s lid, cull lambs, 2s to 3s, fat ewes 12s 6d, 2-tooth Lincoln rams to 4Jgns, 2-tooth Romney rams to 2gns, aged rams from 14s 6d to lgn. Pigs: A large entry but dull of sale; weaners 5s to 5s Sd. Cattle: 2J to 3-year steers to £4, 18-month steers to £2 3s, cows in milk £4 2s. Dogs to 20s. We also report having held our Alfredton sale on Thursday, March 26th. There was a fair yarding, but owing to a steady downpour of rain bidding was slack. On Wednesday, 25th, we held a clearing sale on account of Mr F. Aslin on his farm at Scarborough. Although it was a very wet aay settlers turned up well, and the result considering the season veiry satisfactory to the vendor.. Cows close on dry un to £6 10s, average of herd £3 14s* 2d. Store pigs 275, sow with litter £3 10s. Spring cart £l2 10s. Milk cans and sundries sold at good prices.
