AUCKLAND, March 26. r Replying'to a deputation from the National Defence League, the Premier said it was obvious the real danger to countries in these southern seas was the Yellow Peril. Australia wan interested to a greater extent than New Zealand. All classes in the community recognised the importance of being ready for any crisis that might arise. Anything the Government could do to assist the league would be done. It was of first importance to the country that we should have a trained body of men ready to take the field at a moment's notice. The Premier referred to the difference between a forced militia and one of men coming forward voluntarily to prepare themsevles for the defence of their homes. He added that there .was,a difference of opinion as to which system was most desirable, "and calm, dispassionate discussion of the question was required.
