METEOROLOGICAL.
At 9 a.m. yesterday Captain Edwin issued the following forecast for the subsequent 24 hours:— Wind.—-Easterly gale soon at all places northward of East Cape, Taupo, and Manukau Heads, extending southward to other parts of the North Island/ and also to between Cape Campbell and Lyttelton, after 16 hours. Strong northerly winds everywhere else. Barometer. —Fall everywhere. Rain—Probably heavy in the North Island, and is to be expected in the South Island generally. Warning signal for easterly gale is exhibited at Cape Maria Van Diemen, Tiritiri, and East Cape, and will be shown at Capes Campbell and Farewell Spit, after sunrise, but for northerly gale is exhibited at Nuggets.
Mr J. C- Boddington reports that the rainfall registered at Upper Plain for the 24 hours up till 9 a.m. on Wednesday wa3 10 points.
