OFFENDED PRESSMEN.
RECENT REICHSTAG INCIDENT. • Received March 25, 8.30 a.m. LONDON, March 24. Reuter reports that Herr Grpeber, having refused to apologise for his reference to reporters as "piggish louts," the boycott by the pressmen, who at once left the Chamber, continues. In the circumstances the Imperial Chancellor, Prince Bulow, postponed his speech on foreign affairs. EPITHET WITHDRAWN. Received March 25, 9.4 p.m. BERLIN, March 25. v Herr Groeber has withdrawn the epithet used by him regarding the reporters and apologised to the j Reichstag. ! During a debate recently in the Reichstag on colonial matters, one of the members referred to "the immortal soul of the negro," and this evoked laughter and cries of "Oh!" from the press gallery. Herr Groeber thereupon made some scathing comments upon the interruption, referring to the reporters as "piggish louts." Thirty-two journalists withdrew with some little demonstration, , and refused to return until adequate satisfaction had been granted.
