The bye-election for West Down, owing to the resignation of Lord Arthur PIJII, resulted:— Mr M'Caw, Unionist ... 4,051 Mr Beattie, Liberal .... 2,760 At the last general election Mr H. Liddell (Unionist) was returned unopposed for West Down. He subsequently resigned, and Lord Hill was elected, beating Mr Beattie by f 3,702 votes to 2,918.
