Gregory, for his perform ance in the underhand chopping cong ' test at Masterton on January Ist, /" j 1907. The secretary was instructed to refer Mr Hardy to his own letter to the Society on January 14th last in which he stated officially that even had Gregory's log been of the recognised dimensions, the Axemen's Association could not recogi nise his time (lmin 15sec) as a record, because W. Weston had established a new recard of lmin lOsec, at Dannevirke, on the same date (January Ist). It was decided not to give effe"t to the suggestion. The secretary submitted a statement of receipts and expenditure in connection with the last sports and concert, which showed the following result: —Sports —Receipts, £321 15s lOd; expenditure, £372 7s sd; dr. balance, £SO lis 7d. The decrease (£9 13s) in revenue as compared with the previous year had been directly traceable to a falling-off in the entry fees, due, in a great measure, to the action of the New Zealand Athletic Union in disqualifying nearly three hundred competitors throughout the dominion. Mr E. E. Gharrberlain, who will shortly leave on a trip to the Old Country, tendered his resignation from the position of ' treasurer, and Mr G. R. Sykes was elected to fill the fMk vacancy. «F The President referred in complimentary terms to Mr Chamberlain's . 1 nig and able tenure of office, and on toehalf of the Society wished him and his family a pleasant trip and safe return. The secretary was instructed to famish Mr Chamberlain with a letter ftom the Society,. which would serve aa an introduction to Scottish gatherings in the Old Country. It was resolved to hold a meeting of the directors on April 4th for the purpose of allowing the retiring treasurer an opportunity to formally hand over the Society's books to his successor. The." secretary was voted a bonus of £5 5s in consideration of the extra work entailed in connection with the concert and inglesides. The annual subscription to the New Zealand League of Wheelmen |P the secretary was instructed to notify the League that if there were no cycle events on the Suciety's programme next year, as was the case this year, the Society would probably disaffiliate from the League.
