FOOTBALL.

CARTERTON CLUB. (Special Reporter.) The annual meeting of members of the Carterton Football Club was held in the Marquis of Normanby Hotel, Carterton, on Saturday night, Mr C. Reid being in the chair. Six new members were elected. The following officers were elected for the ensuing year:—Patron, Mr W. C. Buchanan; President, Mr C. Reid; Vice-Presidents, Messrs R. Cooper, P. Cole, \Y. Howard Booth, B. Wadham, J. Fraser, T. P. Firman, T. H. Hughes, W. M. Hailey, Preece, and W. Strang; Secretary and Treasurer, Mr J. M. Nicholls; Senior Captain, Mr C. Groube; Vice-Captain, Mr E. McKenzie; Senior Selector, Mr E. McKenzie; Auditors, Messrs H. Hall and J. F. Wallis; Delegates to Wairarapa Rugby Union, Messrs Reid, Nicholls and McKenzie; Management Committee, Messrs Reid, Sadler, Groube, E. McKenzie, and Nicholls. It was decided that the junior team should elect its own captain. It was decided that the subscription for senior players be 3s 6d, and for junior players 2s 6d. It was resolved that the season should be opened on Saturday next.

The annual report and balance-sheet to be presented at the annual meeting of the Liberal Football Club in Featherston en Tuesday evening next discloses a highly encouraging position. Both Thursday championships were won by the Club, the juniors obtaining theirs with an unbeaten record. The seniors won six games, lost two and drew one. The receipts during the season were £4O 6s 2d, and expenditure £26 12s, leaving a credit of £l3 14s 2d. Thompson, a well-known Wanganui back, has thrown in his lot this season with the Red Stars, who will be further strengthened by the inclusion of W. De Blois, the smart Melrose (Wellington) senior forward, and a brother of J. De Blois, and Hebley, a Petone back.
