BEAUTIFYING PARIS.
BIG SCHEME SUGGESTED. Received March 22, 4.15 p.m. PARIS, March 21. The Prefect of Seine has submitted to the Paris municipality a scheme for beautifying the city at a cost of twenty-four millions sterling. A sum of £2,000.000 will be devoted to the extinction of tuberculosis. The entire cost of the scheme is to be provided by continuing the existing sinking fund for thirty-seven years. THE RUSSIAN NAVY. THE DUMA'S DECISION. ACCEPTED BY M. STOLYPIN. I Received, March 22, 4.5 p.m. ST. PETERSBURG, March 21. M. Stolypin, the Premier, has accepted the decision of the Defence and Budget Committees of the Duma with regard to the rejection of the credit for the construction of battleships. The Defence and Budget Committees of the Duma, by 19 votes to 14, rejected the credit for the construction of battleships, and approved of the votes for and submarines.
