SOCIALISM AND THE CHURCH.
GISBORNE, March 19. At a meeting of the Poverty Bay Clerical Association a discussion took place on Socialism. The following resolution was passed:—"That this meeting desires to express its sympathy with the aspirations of Socialists to improve the conditions of the wage-earners, especially in the older countries; and while unable to accept the views of extremists, is of opinion that the church should give serious attention to proposals for the removal of existing social conditions."
