A PAINFUL SENSATION.

INVERCARGILL, March 19. A Southland "Times" correspondent reports that a painful sensation was caused at LnmEden by the finding of Mrs Garthwaite, of Holmsdale, unconscious, and almost nude, about a quarter of a mile above the Mararoa bridge. The body was rigid, and she had to be brought in in a railway trolley. Dr Mcllroy, who attended her, was himself taken suddenly ill, and Dr Watt arrived from Riverton, but could not restore animation, and death occurred about 7 a.m. next morning. Some of the deceased's clothes were found in a patch of willows, and there are indications that she had partially undressed and crawled to where she was found.
