Moloch has been nominated for the principal events at the Auckland Racing Club meeting, to be held at Easter, and if the weights are considered equitable by the owner, the Mauser gelding will travel North. The Martinborough owned Narcotic will compete in the Nelson Cup, and judging by the class represented in the race he should be able to hold his own. . I The Merriwee—lsmene gelding is being put into work again at McGrath's. He had been spelled recently on account of slight shoulder lameness, but appears to be alright again. Mr J. Macara's Saracen mare, Skye, has been leased to Mr J. Chisholm. She has grown and furnished considerably since she wad raced a year ago, and seems to be much quieter in temperament. When in training she showed a lot of pace, and there is every probability of her winning races when her condition is right. Letherin, who went sore some months ago, is being ridden about He appears to be sound, and would probably stand a preparation if worked during the winter when the tracks are soft. Acceptances for the Masterton meeting will close on Thursday, when entries for the Maiden Hack Race will also be received. A good reponse on the part of owners is expected, and a very successful meeting should result. Mr Pollock's handicaps appear to be formed on an equitable basis, so there is every reason to expect tha*. the majorty of the horses nominated will be found taking part at the fixture. The handicapper attended the Dannevirke meeting last week, and closely watched the Cup race. There Waitapu won with 7st 111b, and for the Waipipi Cup is asked to carry Bst 131b. San Julie is assessed at 121b more than at Dannevirke, where she was only beaten by a narrow margin, and the pair should again finish close together. Moloch is dropped one pound in weight, Chatterer three pounds, while Aberration is raised one pound, and Aeolus and Merrie Rose are asked to carry exactly the same poundage. Other horses likely to start that did not compete at Danneyirke are Tangimoana 9st, Tupono 7st 81b, Mataari Bst 51b ard Scotch Reel 6st 71b. Amurg the best treated on the score of weight are Tupono and Aeolus. Splendid Idea is nominated for Hack Hurdle events at the Manawatu meeting. The daughter of Captain Webb should do well in this class of race, as she is very speedy. She belongs to a very astuta stable that has brought off a number of very payable coups in the past, and punters are soire to keep a keen watch on the mare's form over the small sticks. "
Merrie Zealand will make his first appearance in open company at the Masterton meeting. In the March Handicap of seven furlongs he has to carry 7st 31b, and with this weight should be with the leaders at the finish.
