MELEE ON A RACECOURSE.
AN EXTRAORDINARY INCIDENT.
A JOCKEY ASSAULTED. Received March 13, 10.18 a.m. MELBOURNE, March 13. An extraordinary incident occurred at the races at Narbethong,, a little town on Fisher's Creek. The clerk of the course, considering that two jockeys were interfering with the running, procured a btockwhip and belaboured one of them. The whip caught round the fellow's neck and dragged him out of the saddle. A general melee followed, and a •constable had to draw a revolver to restore order. One jockey was arrested.
