AMBULANCE SATURDAY.

GOOD WORK BY THE COLLECTORS.

OVER £42 COLLECTED

The local Ambulance Corps and Nursing Guild have every reason to be satisfied with the result of the Ambulance Saturday donations this year. The "target" (£SO) was not hit—at least, a "bull's-eye" was Hot registered—but what ought to be termed a good "inner" was scored, as the collections amounted to the substantial sum of £42 3s lOd. Last year the amount collected on Ambulance Saturday was £29 4s 2d. This year's contributions therefore exceeded last year's by £l2 19s Bd. The lady members with nurses' uniforms bearing red-ross badges were busy all the clay with collection boxes, while in the evening the members of the Ambulance Brigade gave an exposition of what might be done in the case of accidents when the necessary knowledge is applied to the work. A lorry was driven through the town containing two patients, one in bed under the gentle care of two trained nurses, and the other receiving treatment at the hands of two members of the brigade, who were busy with various fractures, wound?, etc. The ambulance litter also conveyed a supposed victim of some apparently serious accident, bandages, splints, etc., being greatly in evidence. The new brougham was also requisitioned, and the brigade gave a demonstration of its usefulness in the conveyance of the sick or wounded.

The fact that the sum hoped for, £SO, was not raised, leads the corps to believe that those who have contributed so far might be induced to assist in bringing the amount collected to that sum, and Messrs A. Donald (superintendent) and A. J. Parton (secretary) will be pleased to receive further contrioutions.. The corps deserves hearty congratulation for its efforts on Ambulance Saturday.
