AQUATIC CARNIVAL COMMITTEE.
The final meeting of the committee of the late Aquatic Carnival, to wind up the affairs of the.gathering, was held last evening, Mr J. C. Ewington presiding. The report of the secretary (Mr S. R. Edwards), which was adopted, is as follows:—In submitting this re port and balance-sheet of the Aquatic Carnival, held on January 22nd, the members of this committee are to be congratulated upon the splendid result of their efforts in undertaking to hold an Aquatic Carnival—the first of its kind in the Wairarapa. The thanks of the committee are due to the gentlemen that comprised the various sub-committees for the practical and diligent way in which they performed their many duties; the success of the carnival is due to their efforts and to the live interest that was displayed by individual members. The thanks of the committee are also due to the donors of cash and trophies, and for their generosity in assisting in such a practical way. The cash donations , amounted to £l2 4s, and the cash values of the trophies totalled £27 12s 6d, making altogether £39 16s 6d. The gathering was an unqualified success, and so also were the many events that were well and fairly contested. And the many officials that were appointed, under the supervision of Mr P. Hunn, are to be congratulated upon the able manner in which the gathering was conducted. The Fire Police, the Municipal Fire Brigade and Municipal Band, each rendered practical assistance, and the thanks of the committee are also due to them. I'he bal-ance-sheet needs no comment, as it shows in detail the total amount of the receipts, £199 14s 7d, and the details of the expenditure, amounting, to £94 Bs, leaving a credit balance of £lO5 6s 7d. The thanks of the committee are due to Mr R. Brown for auditing the balance-sheet. In closing this brief report, your secretary wishes to convey his thanks to the individual members of the various committees and to the gentlemen outside of this committee who so ably assisted in many ways to ensure the success of the Carnival.

The Secretary was voted a bonus of £lO for the able manner in which ho carried out all the details connected with the sports. The question of making a grant to the Wairarapa Amateur Swimming Club out of the funds of the committee was discussed, and it was ultimately decided to refer the matter to the Borough Park Committee. The sum of £95 6s 7d —the balance resulting from the sports—will be handed over to the Dorough Park Committee for carrying out improvements in the Park.
