METEOROLOGICAL.
At 9 a.m. yesterday, Captain Edwin issued the following forecast for the subsequent 24 hours: — Wind. —South-easterly, strong to gale northward of Kaipara; easterly, strong to gale between East Cape, Taupo, and Manukau Heads; southeasterly, strong to gale between Napier and East Capt; moderate to strong easterly winds everywhere else. Barometer.—Pall, but rising after 12 hours northward of Kaipara; rise thence southward to Raglan; little movement in the central districts; fall slowly southward of Kaikoura and Hokitika. Rain is probable northward of Napier, Taupo, and Manukau Heads. Warning signal for south-easterly gale is exhibited at Cape Maria Van Diemen, and for easterly gale at Tiritiri and East Cape.
Mr J. C. Boddington reports that the rainfall registered at the Upper Plain for the 24 hours preceding 9 a.m. yesterday was 6 points.
