MAURICEVILLE COUNTY COUNCIL.
The ordinary meeting of the Maurkeville County Council was held on Saturday. Present—Cra' V. VV. H. Kummer (chairman), J. F. Heckler, 11. J. Dagg, C. A. Wall and C. Churchill Jackson.
Mr R. C. Fowler wrote requesting to be allowed to get thirty or forty loads of metal from the quarry on the Mangamahoe Road.—lt was resolved to permit the metal to be taken at Gd per yard, and on certain conditions. .Mr F. Smith, sawmUler, of Alfredton, wrote offering to supply totara timber.—The Clerk was directed to inform him that when timber is required for work near his mill his offer will be considered. Mr A. E. Clarke's offer to maintain part of the main road was not accepted. The Commissioner of Crown Lands forwarded a certificate authorising thirds from sections 47 and 79 to be used as ordinary revenue of the district. It was resolved to replace a defective platform bridge on the Mauriceville North road by a culvert constructed with large concrete pipes.
The Council was unable to consent to Mr D. McDonald's request to substitute rimu for hinau timber for the stringers of a small bridge on Mount Bruce road.
The overseer was instructed to get the bridge on the Mauriceville South road sheathed with birch. Permission was given to the Mangamahoe School Committee to take gravel from a reserve on the main road. Accounts amounting to £216 Sa 2d were passed for payment.
