Herr Dernburg, Director of Colonial Affairs, speaking in the Reichstag, stated that during the recent troubles in East Africa it had been found necessary to seize all the available food supplies, either to feed the German forces with, or in order to weaken the enemy. On account of this step having been taken, said Herr Dernburg, 75,000 natives had been starved to death.
