AMBULANCE MATTERS.
NEED FOR PUBLIC SUBSCRIPTIONS. AN "AMBULANCE SATURDAY" THIS WEEK. The enthusiastic spirits who have in hand the advancement of ambulance work in Masterton are determined to open the season in an ener- j getic fashion, and next Saturday is to be an "Ambulance Saturday,"' when the customary levy will be made upon charitably-disposed by means of collection boxes taken round the streets by members of the Ambulance Association, as was done last year. The valuable work achieved by the Association is well worthy of public support, and as the lectures to be held during the coming year in connection with the First Aid and Home Nursing Classes, and the genera! work of the Corps require numerous purchases in the way of lint, bandages and cognate material, it is hoped the collections on Saturday will be as large as they were last year, when a very substantial amount was collected. An ambulance station for the brougham, stretcher and other paraphernalia of the corps is also to be a "target" for this year's work, and, of course, a fair amount of money will be required for this alone. The ladies' division has a very large number of members and the examinations held last year were most satisfactory. The men's division, though not so strong numerically, has a good membership, nevertheless, and this year there is a probability of a large increase.
