The Federal Customs and excise revenue for the last eight months totalled £8,509,000, an increase of £1,538,000 over the same period of last year, New South Wales contributing an increase of £710,000, anu Victoria £503,000.
PATENT MEDICINES
ENGLISH OBJECTIONS TO AUSTRALIAN BILL.

Messrs E. Glover and J. A. Kenningham, representatives from the London Chamber of Commerce, have arrived to interview the Federal Government, with a view to obtaining modifications of the Bill dealing with patent medicines. (The patent medicine manufacturers strongly protest against the disclosures of their formulae, hut are willing to acquiesce in the prohibition of any article which the Government Bureau of Chemistry, after analysing, reports to contain injurious ingredients, provided the proprietors thereof are allowed the opportunity of remedying the complaint). THE NEWCASTLE MINERS. OBJECTION TO TAKING EVIDENCE IN CAMERA. Receive March 3. 10 a.m. SYDNEY, March 3. The South Maitland Miners' Lodges endorsed the resolution against the taking of evidence m camera before the special coal court. The voting by the whole of the lodges will be completed by Wednesday. It is expected a majority will endorse the resolution.
A STORM AT RICHMOND
TWO MEN STUNNED BY A LUMP OF ICE.
Received March 3, 9.36 a.m. SYDNEY, March 3. A lump of ice fell during a storm at Richmond. Two men were stunned by it, and smaller animals injured.
