Mr J. A. Walsh has been elected secretary of the Pahiatua central brant.h of the New Zealand Farmers' Union.
Mr and Mrs H. W. Ayre, of Featherston, left on Monday on an extended holiday trip to Wanganui and other parts of the North Island.
Mr Fauvel, of Kaiparoro, and his son Philip, intend taking a trip to England and Jersey shortly. They expect to be absent from the dominion about six or seven months.
Mr J. Kay, headmaster of the Hamua School, has just undergone a serious operation in the Wellington Hospital, but is making satisfactory progress towards recovery. Mrs Rawson, wife of Mr E. Raw-*-on, P.M., whose departure from Masterton was postponed on account of her two children's illness, leaves about the end of the week fur the West Coast.
The departure of the Rev. A. M. Johnson for his new parish (St. Mark's, Wellington) will not take place until about the week after Easter. So far nothing has been disclosed as to his successor in Masterton.
Mr F. C. Turnor has been elected chairman of the Eketiihuna sub-com-mittee of the Wellington Acclimatisation Society, and Mr W. N. Dempsey secretary. The other committeemen are Messrs G. Ccster, T. B. Mason, J. S. Tripe, J. Thomasen, S. Hawkins--, J. P. Lowes and H. Griffith.
Mr F. E. Robertson, of. the Masterton Post Office staff, who has been transferred to Feilding, left for that town by the mid-day train yesterday. Prior to his departure he was presented by Mr G. Johnstone, on behalf of the staff at the Masterton office, with a handsome travelling bag. On Monday night a largely attended farewell social was tendered to the Rev. W. Woollass, at the Presbyterian Church, Pahiatua, when he was presented with an illuminated atklress and a purse of sovereigns. Mr Woollass has resigned his charge, and intends taking an extended holiday, he being in ill-health. The presentation was made by Mr W. H. Hawkins, on behalf of the congregation. Mr Woollass leaves the district to-day. Mr F. W. Carey, manager of the Masterton branch of the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, was married yesterday afternoon, at Christ Church, Wanganui, to Miss Edith Christie "eldest daughter of Mr H. F. Christie, of St. John's Hill, Wanganui. Rev. J. A. Jacobs officiated. Mr Archie Adams, of Langley Dale, Marlborough, acted as best man, the bridesmaids being Misses Dorothy and Gladys Christie. Great interest was taken in the function, and costly presents were received by the couple.
