A SUCCESSFUL EXPEDITION.

TRIBESMEN,

Received March 2, 9.80 p.m. CALCUTTA, March 2,

Many headmen of the Tiral tribes have petitioned General Willcocks to spare the Zakka Khels, promising to punish the raiders. 'lhey deposited their rifles, worth 20,000 rupees, as security. The Zakka Khels promised to cooperate, and made a full submission. Twelve hundred marched into the British camp, carrying modern rifles and bearing themselves proudly, though showing signs of physical exhaustion. They declared that but for the mountain guns they would have ventured on to the open plain and fought the expedition man for man.

General Willcocks accepted their submission, and gave them food. The expedition then retired from Walai to Jamrad, through narrow defiles, without the Zakka Khels firing a shot.
