METEOROLOGICAL.
At 9 a.m. yesterday, Captain Edwin issued the following forecast for the subsequent 24 hours: — Wind. —Northerly; moderate to strong at all places northward of East Cape, Taupo, and Raglan; westerly thence to Napier; northerly, strong to gale thence to Hokitika and Timaru, but westerly strong to gale everywhere else. Barometer.- Fall everywhere. Rain is probable in the South Island, and there are indications for rain in the North Island generally. Warning signal for northerly gale is exhibited at Capes Campbell, Foulwind, and Farewell Spit, but for westerly gale at Nugget Point. Mr J. C. Boddington reports that •on the Upper Plain rain fell on four days in February. The maximum in 24 hours was 14 points, on 23rd, and the minimum 2 points on the 20th. The total rainfall for the month was 31 points, as against 2,18, .69, 5.68 and 3.41 for the corres ponding month in 1904-5-6-7. The total for two months is 81 points, as against 3.84, 2.46,- 7.73 and 8.77 for the corresponding period in 1904, 1905, 1906, and 1907.
