ADMIRAL ELANS' FLEET.
INVITATION TO VISIT AUSTRALIA.

Mr A. Deakin. Prime Minister of the Commonwealth, TiasJ extended an invitation to Admiral Evans' fleet to visit Australia, and the authorities at Washington are highly gratified at this.
Mr Victor M. Metcalfe, Secretary of the Navy, says that the Naval Department are grateful for the cordiality shown, and that the invitation will receive serious consideration. if*» a LONDON, February 22. r "The Times", New York correspondent says that Mr Elihu Root's reply to the invitation is interesting, as it is the first responsible utterance confirming a previous statement that the fleet would undertake a world's tour.
